The Sweetest Month of The Year: Salestober!

October is a special month for many reasons. It’s the month of Halloween, pumpkin spice lattes, football, and cozy sweaters. But for SalesFirst Recruiting and our giant army of Sales Professionals, October marks the beginning of Q4… The beginning of Showtime. That’s why we have dubbed October as the official month for salespeople, and we call it Salestober!

If you’re one of us, you know Q4 is Showtime.

For many salespeople, Q4 is the most important quarter of the year. It’s the time to finally close those big deals, surpass those annual quotas, and secure those bonuses. It’s the time to show your skills, your value, and your results. It’s the time to shine. Some people crumble under pressure, but not the best professionals. They rise up at the biggest moments and deliver their best performance. They don’t let fear, doubt, or stress get in the way of their goals. They embrace the challenge and enjoy the thrill. They are confident, focused, and resilient. They are the champions of their craft and the heroes of their stories. They are the ones who make history and inspire others. They are the ones who make Salestober a success.

How do we celebrate this new holiday?

Salestober is not just about work, it’s also about fun. Salespeople need to have some fun in their lives, especially after a challenging year like 2023. It’s not everyday that we invent a “new month,” so we came up with some ideas to make Salestober more fun and festive for you and your colleagues.

  • Dress up as your favorite salesperson or sales character for Halloween. Whether it’s a villian such as Jordan Belfort from The Wolf of Wall Street or the unsung Hero Dwight Schrute from The Office, you can show off your sales personality and have a laugh with your coworkers.

  • Host a virtual happy hour or trivia night with your team or clients. You can use platforms like Zoom or Teams to create an interactive and engaging online event. You can also use themes like sales movies, sales quotes, or sales history to spice up the trivia questions.

  • Post sales memes on LinkedIn! Hint… That’s what we’ll be doing. Every day, in fact. 😉

Don’t Forget to Treat Yourself.

Salestober is also a great time to reward yourself and your team for your hard work and dedication. You can use Salestober as an excuse to treat yourself or your team to something nice, whether it’s a gift card, a spa day, peanut butter cups, or a quick night out for some Pumpkin IPAs or Fall Hopped Ciders. You can also use Salestober as a chance to recognize and appreciate your team members or peers for their contributions and achievements.

Here are some ways to reward yourself and your team during Salestober:

  • Create a Salestober leaderboard or dashboard to track your progress and performance. You can use tools like Salesforce or Pipedrive to create a visual representation of your sales metrics and goals. You can also use gamification elements like badges, points, or levels to make it more fun and competitive.

  • Set up a Salestober incentive program or contest to motivate your team or yourself. You can use tools like Xactly or Hoopla to design and manage your incentive program or contest. You can also use creative prizes like cash, gadgets, experiences, or charity donations to reward your winners.

  • Share your Salestober success stories or testimonials on social media or your company blog. You can use platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram to share your stories or testimonials with your network or audience. You can also use hashtags like #october #salestober #sweetsalestober #salesfirstrecruiting, and please tag @SalesFirst Recruiting to increase your visibility and engagement!
