Search Outcome: Filling a Sales Representative Role in Vancouver, WA
Location:
Vancouver, WA
Industry:
Restaurant Supply Distributor
Position Title:
Sales Representative
Client Testimonial
“We joked that this role required someone who's just a little weird. You have to enjoy walking into busy restaurants, introducing yourself to complete strangers, and starting conversations. SalesFirst knew exactly what we meant and found someone who fit that personality perfectly.”
Challenge:
A restaurant supply and design distributor was hiring an Outside Sales Representative to grow business throughout the rapidly expanding Vancouver market.
The company partnered with restaurants from concept to opening, supplying everything from dinnerware, glassware, silverware, cookware, and tabletop products to kitchen equipment, design support, and ongoing operating supplies.
This was a true outside sales role. Success depended on someone who was completely comfortable spending every day in the field, walking into restaurants, introducing themselves, and building relationships with chefs, kitchen managers, general managers, and restaurant owners.
Solution:
We focused our search on candidates with a proven history of face-to-face prospecting.
Rather than limiting the search to restaurant supply sales, we recruited from POS systems, facility services, restaurant services and supplies, packaging, and other industries where sales professionals regularly walk into businesses, start conversations, and build relationships from the ground up.
Throughout the interview process, we looked for candidates who embraced rejection, enjoyed meeting new people, and had the confidence to create opportunities without waiting for the phone to ring.
